transforming the way we buy

2 April 2024

In today’s economy linear, short-term consumption models dominate. A culture of disposability is embedded into our society and many of us don’t think twice about buying something new if a product breaks. We have become so accustomed to having the ability to order a replacement and have it arrive the following day, without considering the negative impact this can have on our planet.

Positively, consumers are become increasingly aware of the negative impact of their purchasing patterns, with more consumers adopting sustainable lifestyles. A recent Deloitte survey found that one in three consumers will choose not to buy from a brand because they believe it’s not sustainable.

In a world of fast-paced consumerism where consumer behaviour is evolving at an unprecedented rate, we have to consider how we can shift towards more sustainable purchasing practices.

While businesses are often called out as the cause of overconsumption, they also have to be part of the solution and have an important role to play in transitioning the world towards a more sustainable and circular future ♻️
